Concurrent licenses, also called floating licenses, allow many users to share a small number of licenses, and determines the maximum number of individuals who can use the system at the same time.
Concurrent licensing is useful if you have many users who work different shifts and only a few individuals need to use the software simultaneously.
For example, purchasing two concurrent licenses allows two individuals to use the system at the same time, but you can have an unlimited number of individuals who are authorized to use the system.

Unlike a concurrent license which can be shared among a group of users, a seat license is assigned to a specific user and can be used by that user at any time.
For example, if you have 10 distinct users, this would equate to 10 seats with the subscription seat model.
This is beneficial if your users need access to Informant at any time, such as if they work from home, or if they need guaranteed access to Informant regardless of how many other users are using the system.

Which option you choose depends on several factors, but we can offer some general guidance:
Perpetual concurrent licensing
If you have full-time users working different shifts, you don’t need a license for each individual user. Instead, you only need a limited number of concurrent licenses, which allow multiple users to access the system at the same time. Since the users are working different shifts and not all at once, fewer concurrent licenses can cover all users effectively.
If you have mostly part-time users, buying a few concurrent licenses pooled among them can be a good option.
Concurrent licenses are acquired upfront and never expire, so you have access to the software even if you stop paying customer support.
Subscription seat licensing
If you have users who need access to Informant at any time, such as from home, at the station, or from their patrol cars, buying seats means each user can have their own dedicated access whenever they need it.
Subscription seat licensing includes customer support in your annual subscription payment.
