NIBRS reporting that fits seamlessly into your workflow.
You enter the incidents. Informant handles the reporting. No NIBRS expertise required..
Your RMS should know Pennsylvania NIBRS so you don’t have to.
Let Informant handle the complexity of NIBRS.
Enter incidents as a part of your daily workflow while Informant automatically applies reporting rules and state-specific requirements behind the scenes. The result? Compliant NIBRS submissions without the extra work.
A comprehensive RMS built to support your agency today — and keep you ready for what comes next.
NIBRS reporting should not force your agency to redesign how officers document incidents and review cases, or how administrators manage reporting requirements.
With Informant Technologies, NIBRS is built into the way your RMS already works.
Your officers enter incidents, arrests, property, people, and locations through familiar workflows. Informant applies the reporting logic, required relationships, state-specific data requirements, validations, and prepares the data for submission.
More than NIBRS. A complete RMS designed for public safety.
Informant is a comprehensive RMS platform that supports the full range of records and workflows your agency relies on every day, including incidents, arrests, chain-of-custody transfers, involved persons, locations, and administrative processes.
NIBRS reporting is integrated into that foundation.
The advantage is simple:
Informant is not a standalone NIBRS reporting tool.
Your agency does not have to choose between a capable RMS and a transition-ready NIBRS solution.
Informant is designed to provide both.
For agencies evaluating a new RMS, that means NIBRS is not another system to bolt on later.
For existing Informant agencies, it means the transition can be built around workflows staff already know.
Your RMS should be ready for NIBRS — without making your staff become NIBRS experts.
NIBRS introduces more detailed reporting requirements, more relationships between data elements, and more opportunities for errors if the RMS and the agency workflow are not aligned.
That complexity should be handled by the system whenever possible.
Informant Technologies provides a comprehensive Records Management System designed around the operational needs of law enforcement agencies — with NIBRS reporting capabilities integrated directly into everyday record entry.
Instead of layering a separate reporting process on top of your RMS, Informant helps make NIBRS part of the same workflow your staff already uses.
That means less disruption for your agency and a clearer path toward state and national reporting requirements.
Informant simplifies NIBRS so your agency can focus on what matters most.

Why choose Informant for NIBRS?
-
Unlike some other RMS systems, you don't have to fill in separate NIBRS forms in Informant to report NIBRS data. All the data needed for NIBRS reporting is collected in the records you create in the system.
-
Informant's built-in Crime Reporting Assistant lets you quickly check an Incident record to ensure you've filled in all the information needed for NIBRS reporting. Instead of needing to learn and interpret often complex and difficult-to-understand NIBRS errors, the Crime Reporting Assistant explains each problem — and how to fix it — in plain English.
-
The FBI NIBRS specification is complex, with numerous detailed rules, exceptions, and reporting requirements. Individual states may also add their own requirements. With Informant, your staff does not need to become experts in every aspect of NIBRS reporting. Informant handles much of this complexity automatically, including less obvious requirements such as recording a placeholder value of $1 for stolen property when the value is unknown, helping your agency report accurately without having to memorize the many intricacies of NIBRS.
-
NIBRS requires submitting one of two types of reports depending on the offenses involved: Group A Incident Reports are submitted for serious offenses, whereas Group B Arrest Reports must be submitted for certain less serious offenses where an arrest is made or a summons or citation is issued. Informant automatically sends the correct type of report to NIBRS based on the offenses added to the Informant Incident record, so you can continue entering incidents and arrests in Informant as usual, without needing to manually segregate each report into "Group A" or "Group B."
-
The NBRS feature in Informant integrates with our Geocoding feature, so latitude and longitude are automatically filled in when you save a location record, allowing you to include accurate location data in your NIBRS submissions without having to find and enter it manually.
-
Informant automatically generates Zero Reports when there is no NIBRS activity.
-
NIBRS is an evolving standard, and Informant's RMS is regularly updated in response to changes to state and federal NIBRS requirements. Informant is currently fully compliant with the FBI's 2025.0 NIBRS Technical Specification.
Already using an RMS?
NIBRS is a reason to evaluate whether your RMS is ready for what comes next.
A system may work well for basic records management and still create unnecessary work when reporting requirements become more complex.
If your agency is:
Preparing for a state NIBRS transition
Replacing an outdated or high-maintenance RMS
Struggling with duplicate NIBRS entry
Experiencing repeated reporting errors
Depending on manual workarounds
Concerned about state-specific requirements
Looking for stronger vendor support
Now is the time to evaluate both your agency’s NIBRS reporting capabilities and your broader RMS environment.
The right question is not simply: “Can our RMS submit NIBRS?”
It is:
Can our RMS help our agency operate smoothly while NIBRS happens in the background?
Ready for Pennsylvania's NIBRS transition?
